The button on the cover of Vanessa Bee’s book says, “60 amazingly achievable lessons to improve your horse … when time is short.” That is not at all what she means by “3-Minute.” Bee contends that horses never say maybe – they always say yes or no – but that it may take them up to three minutes to answer your question. So, my now retired biology professor husband said, “Really. When did I ever give my students three minutes to ponder a question?” Such is life. Bee adds that, if your horse says no, it is because either she does not want to comply, or she does not understand the question. You will have to read her book to learn where to go from there. I find this book extremely helpful for my time spent with Ruby. It is a great “let’s play” book that teaches your horse the building blocks for desired behavior in-hand and under-saddle; and serves as a foundation for her next book, Horse Agility Handbook.
